Jimi

Born on July 11, 2019, Jimi is a six-year-four-month-old domestic short-haired boy with a big personality and an even bigger story.

Jimi began his life in Florida, where he lived happily until his owner passed away. The owner’s daughter couldn’t care for him, so Jimi was flown all the way to New Hampshire and taken in by the Pope Memorial SPCA. That’s where fate stepped in.

Star went to the shelter one day just to look for a companion for Sushi, but Jimi had other plans. The moment he saw Star, he stood up on his back legs, clawed at the door, and begged to be let out. In that instant, she knew he was meant to be hers. Star adopted him that day and brought him home where he belongs.

Jimi has a big, bold personality. He likes to assert his “big brother” energy, especially with Sushi, and he sometimes plays a little rough. He’s also still a bit standoffish, change hasn’t always been easy for him, and with everything he’s been through, it’s understandable. He prefers affection on his terms, but when he wants love, he melts into you. He’ll curl up on your shoulder like a baby waiting to be burped, purring softly in your ear.

At night, he turns into a total sweetheart, cuddling up close and reminding you how deeply he loves and trusts you. Even though he’s still learning that he’s safe, Jimi is happiest at home with his sister Sushi, who he adores in his own “tough big brother” way.

Jimi is proof that even cats with complicated pasts can find their forever family and that sometimes, the cat chooses you first.
